Baby Arphina Khatun should be spending her days giggling in her mother’s arms, taking her first steps, and discovering the world. Instead, she’s battling an unimaginable challenge—two large tumors on her face that are making it difficult for her to breathe and grow normally. Her condition, Frontal Myelomeningocele with Cleft Nose, is a rare birth defect that has caused severe swelling and disfigurement in her face. This condition affects the skull and soft tissues, putting immense pressure on her developing brain and making her vulnerable to infections. At just 8 months old, she has already endured more pain than most of us will in a lifetime. But with the right medical treatment, she has a chance to live a normal and healthy life.

A Family Struggling to Save Their Baby

Arphina’s father, Ali Hossain, is a daily wage laborer from a small village in Bihar, West Bengal. With limited resources, he has been struggling to provide for his family, and now, his little daughter’s medical crisis has left him completely helpless. The cost of her life-saving surgery is ₹14,10,000, an amount that is far beyond his reach. He has already borrowed money, sought help from friends, and done everything he can to arrange funds—but it is simply not enough. Her condition requires an urgent, multi-specialty surgery that will reduce the pressure on her skull, correct the cleft nose, and allow her to live without pain. Doctors at Om Hospital have confirmed that she needs immediate treatment to avoid further complications.
