A Tiny Life Hanging Between Hope and Survival

In a small home in Haridwar, a young couple waited years for their first child. Every prayer, every visit to the temple, every silent hope was for a baby they could call their own. And then, their prayers were answered. Baby of Sangita was born small, fragile, but full of promise. But just hours later, that promise began to fade. Her breathing became shallow. Her tiny chest struggled to rise and fall. She was rushed to Sethi Nursing Home, where doctors revealed the truth every parent dreads that she was born premature, with severe infection in her lungs and signs of seizure disorder.

Since that moment, her world has been a hospital room between wires, monitors, and machines doing the job her underdeveloped body cannot.

A Father’s Hands Are Tied by Poverty

Her father works as a daily-wage laborer. Some days, he finds work. Most days, he doesn’t. Her mother, a homemaker, sits by the window of the hospital, too scared to hope but too desperate to stop praying. After years of trying to conceive, this is their first child the dream they thought would finally bring joy into their lives. But instead, they find themselves living in fear, watching their baby fight to survive one day at a time.

Doctors have said she’ll need 60–70 days of NICU care, with constant oxygen, medication, and neurological monitoring. The estimated cost of treatment: ₹8,00,000. For a father who earns only when luck allows it’s not just expensive, it’s impossible.

Between a Breath and a Prayer

Every beep of the NICU monitor is a reminder that this baby’s life depends on more than medicine it depends on kindness. Her parents sit in silence, torn between love and helplessness. They’ve already borrowed, begged, and sold whatever little they had. But even that isn’t enough to buy their daughter more time. And yet, they haven’t given up. Because somewhere, they believe someone out there will hear their story and care.
