Jems is only six years old. A child who should have been spending his day playing, laughing, and running around his village. But one moment of tragedy changed his entire world. While he was playing near his home, a high voltage wire fell and he came in direct contact with it. The electric current pulled him in and he remained stuck to the wire for several seconds. By the time the villagers managed to free him, the damage was already unimaginable.
His neck, chest, stomach, and both legs suffered severe burns. The most devastating injury was to the part of his body that allows him to urinate. The flesh was burnt away completely, leaving nothing behind. His pain is beyond what any child should ever experience.
Jems’s father works as a daily wage labourer. His mother is a housewife. They have no savings and no financial support. Even arranging two meals a day is a daily struggle. In a situation where every minute matters, this family did not have the money to admit him to a hospital immediately. They stood helpless as their child cried in unbearable pain. Today, Jems is admitted to OM Hospital in Raipur. He needs urgent reconstructive surgery that will allow him to pass urine again. Without this, his infection will spread and his life will be at risk. The estimated cost of treatment is far beyond what this family can ever arrange.
Every hour is critical. His body is fighting sepsis, and doctors are doing everything they can. But without financial support, his treatment cannot continue.
