Sixteen-year-old Sagira Khatun hails from a small village in West Bengal, driven by a dream to one day become a doctor and dedicate her life to serving others. However, for over a year, her dreams seemed to slip away as she faced the debilitating effects of Meningothelial Meningioma, a condition that began to rob her of her vision and hope for the future. Her father, Golam Mustafa, watched in despair as Sagira’s condition worsened. Despite spending around Rs. 1,00,000 on treatments, their savings had been exhausted, and they could no longer afford the rising medical expenses. When Mitaan Foundation learned of Sagira’s condition, they understood the urgency. Without immediate intervention, Sagira risked losing her eyesight permanently. The Foundation, which works tirelessly to help patients in remote areas, quickly mobilized resources and raised funds for her surgery. Thanks to the collective effort of many generous donors and the relentless dedication of Mitaan Foundation, Sagira underwent a critical surgery that successfully removed the tumor. She has now regained partial eyesight—a significant victory in her journey toward full recovery. But her battle is not over yet. Sagira requires further treatment, including MRI scans, perimetry eye tests, and other diagnostic procedures, to ensure the tumor does not regrow and to help restore her eyesight fully. An additional eye surgery is necessary to give her the chance to see clearly again—an expensive procedure that requires further funding. Despite the challenges ahead, Sagira’s spirit remains strong. She dreams of becoming a doctor to help others lead better, healthier lives, and with continued support, that dream is still within reach. Mitaan Foundation is working day and night to support Sagira and patients like her in the most remote regions of India, ensuring they receive the care they need to live better lives. Your prayers, support, and contributions can make a world of difference. Please continue to support Sagira by sharing her story and helping us raise the necessary funds for her complete recovery. Together, we can turn hope into healing.
