Our Mission, Their Hope

At Mitaan, we bridge the gap between urgent medical needs and the power of community support—one life at a time

Who WE Are

Jeevandayini

The Story of Mitaan Foundation.

"Where there was no hope, we built a path."

Mitaan Welfare Foundation was born out of a long-standing commitment to social service and grassroots development, led by Ishak Khan and later strengthened by Tushar Mahajan. The journey began in 2012, when Ishak Khan initiated community-focused social work with the aim of addressing pressing issues such as education gaps, healthcare access, and social welfare among underserved populations. What started as individual efforts gradually evolved into structured interventions, driven by Ishak’s vision of inclusive and sustainable development.

From a Personal Effort to a Public Mission

In 2021, Tushar Mahajan joined forces with Ishak Khan, bringing renewed energy, strategic leadership, and organizational direction to the initiative. With a shared vision and complementary strengths, their collaboration marked a pivotal turning point. Together, they formally established the Mitaan Welfare Foundation to scale their impact and operate with greater reach, transparency, and long-term sustainability. The foundation was created with a clear purpose: To empower marginalized communities To promote education, health, sanitation, and women’s well-being To deliver sustainable, community-led solutions rather than short-term relief To further strengthen outreach and engagement, mitaan.org was launched as the foundation’s digital platform. The website serves as a space for sharing impact stories, program updates, volunteer opportunities, and ensuring accountability to supporters and beneficiaries alike. Under the leadership of Founder Tushar Mahajan and Managing Director Ishak Khan, Mitaan Welfare Foundation continues to grow as a people-centered organization rooted in compassion, collaboration, and action-working tirelessly to transform empathy into lasting social change.

The Heart of the Movement — Mitaan Squad

At the core of Mitaan Foundation is its people. A dedicated team of 15 core members and over 150 active ground volunteers form the Mitaan Squad.
This includes:
Mitaan Yuva Morcha – Young, dynamic ground volunteers who coordinate patient support, organize rural medical camps, assist in hospital admission, and provide field-based follow-up. Team Mitaan – A committed operations and digital support team that manages awareness campaigns, patient data registration, documentation, communications, and community outreach online.
Their combined efforts ensure that each patient receives consistent care — from diagnosis to recovery. Contributors like Shanti Bai, Sunny Sheikh, and Raju M. continue to be instrumental in mobilizing resources and enabling field execution.

Jeevandayini Yojna – A Napkin, A New Chapter

The Jeevandayini Initiative addresses menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls in rural and tribal areas. For every follow or engagement on our social media platforms, one sanitary napkin is donated to a girl in a government school.
This simple act enables hundreds of girls to stay in school, attend classes confidently, and break generational barriers linked to education and poverty.

Treatment with Dignity – Beyond Hospitals

At Mitaan Foundation, we believe healthcare is not just about reaching hospitals — it’s about complete support. We assist patients who either cannot access government schemes or whose conditions are not covered. Our support includes:
Hospital coordination and specialist treatment access
Travel and accommodation assistance
Free medicines and food
Pre-surgery preparation and post-surgery follow-up
Fundraising via www.mitaan.org when financial aid is unavailable through official channels
We help people not just survive, but live with dignity and self-dependence.

Monthly Free Medical Camps

Every month, the Foundation organizes one free medical camp in each of the four states it operates in. These camps serve 700–1000 patients per location and offer: General and specialized checkups (eye, skin, bones, gynecology, etc.)

Free medicines and consultations
On-the-spot awareness and health counseling
Certificate and document support for welfare inclusion
The camps are conducted in the most remote tribal belts, forest villages, and urban slums — areas where even a basic doctor’s visit can be a luxury.

Bridging the Awareness Gap

Many people in remote areas are unaware of available support systems. Our team conducts awareness drives, village meetings, health talks, and door-to-door campaigns to educate people on how they can avail benefits, access care, and improve their long-term well-being. When Government Schemes Aren't Enough
While our team helps people access healthcare through available government welfare schemes, many patients are either excluded or denied due to technical or categorical limitations.
In such cases, we launch online fundraising campaigns through www.mitaan.org, allowing the public to directly support those in need. This not only ensures treatment but gives the person a second chance at self-reliance.

Transparency & Trust

We uphold transparency as a core value. Every donor and supporter receives:
Full details of the patient's condition and story
Photos, videos, and treatment reports
Updates on fund usage and recovery progress
We believe that compassion backed with accountability leads to lasting impact.

More Than a Foundation — A Movement

Mitaan Foundation is more than an organization; it is a people-powered movement. We represent those whose voices have long been unheard. We bridge the gap between pain and healing, despair and dignity, and the impossible and the achievable. If you believe in transforming lives, Mitaan is your platform.

Mrinal Mahajan
Founder
Mitaan Welfare Foundation

Mrinal Mahajan is the Founder of Mitaan Welfare Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving healthcare access, community welfare, and dignity for underserved people across rural India. The roots of Mitaan go back to 2012, when Ishak Khan, then a schoolteacher in a small village in Chhattisgarh, saw the devastating effects of lack of accessible medical care on his neighbor's family. That experience sparked in him a deep commitment to change - he began helping patients directly, offering guidance, moral support, and whatever medical coordination he could in the absence of formal systems. Ishak's early work was hands-on and driven by compassion, laying the groundwork for a bigger mission. As Ishak continued his grassroots involvement, he connected with Mrinal Mahajan, whose strong background in social welfare and dedication to marginalized communities gave new structure and direction to the initiative. With shared vision and complementary strengths, the two formalized their work by founding Mitaan Welfare Foundation to expand reach, strengthen strategic impact, and serve communities across multiple states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal. Under Mrinal's leadership as Founder and Ishak's deep commitment to community service, the Foundation is driven by principles of compassion, dignity, accountability, and sustainable change. Their combined efforts turned a personal commitment into a people-powered movement that continues to transform lives.
