In 2009, in a modest home in Kanpur, a moment of rage destroyed an entire family's world. Arbaj was just a child when his father, driven by anger after his mother refused his decision to marry another woman, threw acid on his wife, daughter, and son. What followed was not just physical pain but the tearing apart of a family. His sister died immediately. His mother fought bravely for a month, undergoing painful procedures, hoping to survive for her children. She did not make it. Arbaj survived. But survival, in his case, meant living with a deeply burnt face, scars that never allowed him to forget, and memories that no passing year has been able to erase.

A Life Rebuilt in Someone Else's Home Today,

Arbaj is 26 years old. He does not live in the house where he was born. He lives with his maternal uncle and aunt, who took him in when he had nowhere else to go. They are simple people who manage their household with care and caution. Their earnings are just enough for daily meals, electricity bills, and small necessities. Arbaj has no income of his own. For his daily bread and butter, he depends on their support. They never complain. They treat him as their own. But kindness cannot replace opportunity. And scars, especially on the face, are not easy to carry in a world that often judges first and understands later. He rarely steps out for long. When he does, people stare. Children whisper. Some adults look away awkwardly. He wants to work. He wants to earn. He wants to stand independently. But interviews are short. Doors close politely. His face speaks before he can.

The Medical Reality He Cannot Ignore

Doctors have confirmed that Arbaj is a case of severe facial burn with septic shock complications. He now requires ICU care with ventilator support and reconstructive plastic surgery. The estimated cost of treatment is approximately ₹8,56,000. The treatment includes intensive care, surgery, medicines, and multiple stages of reconstruction to restore both function and appearance. This is not cosmetic improvement. It is medical necessity. Without intervention, infections and complications may worsen. Without reconstruction, employment and social independence remain distant. For a young man who has already lost his mother and sister, losing his chance at dignity would be another silent tragedy.

Ramzan in Kanpur: Faith, Reflection, and Quiet Prayers

In the narrow lanes of Yashoda Nagar, Ramzan arrives gently.

The azaan echoes softly in the evening air. Shops prepare for iftar with dates, fruits, and samosas neatly arranged on trays. Families gather after sunset, breaking their fast with whispered duas and shared meals. Arbaj sits with his uncle and aunt at iftar. He raises his hands in prayer like everyone else. He fasts. He reflects. He listens to verses about patience, mercy, and forgiveness.

Ramzan is a month of restraint and faith. A month when people pray not only for themselves, but for relief from hardship.

Arbaj does not ask for revenge.

He does not ask why this happened to him.

He prays for something simple. "If I get treated," he says quietly, "I can work. I can live normally."

No anger. No complaint. Just hope.

A Young Man Who Wants Ordinary Things

Arbaj does not dream of luxury.

He wants a job.

He wants to rent a small room someday.

He wants to support the uncle and aunt who supported him.

He wants to walk into a room without people turning away.

He wants his life to move forward with dignity.

He has already carried grief for seventeen years. What he seeks now is not sympathy, but opportunity.

When Compassion Becomes the Greatest Blessing

Ramzan teaches generosity. It reminds us that charity is not about excess, but about responsibility. It teaches that easing someone's hardship is one of the greatest acts of faith. Arbaj's treatment requires more than prayers. It requires resources his family does not have. He survived fire once. Now he needs the chance to rebuild what it left behind. As families in Kanpur gather for iftar and prepare for Eid, perhaps the most meaningful blessing is the one that restores someone's future. Arbaj has lived with scars for seventeen years. Maybe this season of mercy can be the one that begins his healing.
