Sanjana is only one and a half years old. A child who should be playing, learning new words, and living safely in her mother’s arms. But one small moment inside their kitchen has turned her life into a fight for survival.Last week, her mother was cooking. Sanjana sat close to her, like she always does. Her tiny hand brushed against a hot utensil, and in seconds, the boiling pot slipped and fell over her. The burning liquid covered her ear, shoulder, cheek, chest, and back.
Her cries were so loud that the entire village heard. But no help came.
Sanjana’s mother suffers from a mental illness. She cannot fully understand situations or respond correctly. Her father works far away as a daily wage labourer, earning only when someone gives him work. He wasn’t home that day and is still struggling to come back.
Alone, confused, and terrified, her mother tried whatever she could. But they had no money for treatment.
For days, Sanjana was kept inside the house. They bought a few medicines from a local medical shop and applied them, hoping it would help. But her burns are severe. Her skin has darkened and hardened. The pain has increased. Infection is beginning to set in.
When taken for medical assessment, doctors confirmed burns on:
She requires immediate surgical treatment and skin grafting. The treatment would take days of hospitalization and continuous care, which her family cannot afford at all.
They struggle even for food. Hospital bills are far beyond anything they can imagine.
Without proper treatment, Sanjana risks deeper infection, permanent damage, and lifelong disability.
Sanjana cannot speak for herself. She cannot explain her pain. She only cries and clings to her mother, who herself is unable to understand the danger her child is in.

Hospital Estimate Documents
Sanjana Barle, a 1.5 year old child, was brought to the hospital with extensive burn injuries involving her ear, left shoulder, left cheek, chest, and upper back. Due to her young age and the sensitive areas affected, her condition was classified as critical and required immediate medical and surgical attention.
At the time of admission, Sanjana was in visible pain and discomfort. Her injuries not only posed a serious risk of infection but also threatened long term complications if not treated without delay. Given the severity of the burns and the vulnerability of a child her age, doctors recommended urgent intervention.
To support Sanjana’s treatment, a fundraising appeal was launched on 06-12-2025, with an estimated medical cost of ₹5,15,000. Unfortunately, due to limited reach and response, the required amount could not be fully raised within the necessary time period.
However, Sanjana’s condition did not allow for waiting.
Understanding the urgency and keeping the child’s well-being as the highest priority, the decision was made to proceed with treatment without delay, irrespective of the funding gap. The medical team and Mitaan Foundation worked together to ensure that Sanjana received complete and uninterrupted care.
This decision reflects our core belief that no child should suffer or be denied treatment due to financial limitations.
Sanjana underwent surgical treatment for severe burn injuries, which included comprehensive wound management and surgical intervention on all affected areas. Special care was taken due to the involvement of the ear, facial region, and upper body, which require precise and cautious handling in pediatric patients.
The medical team followed strict protocols to:
Every step of the treatment was planned with the child’s safety, comfort, and recovery in mind.
The surgery was conducted successfully as planned. There were no complications during the procedure or in the immediate post operative period. Sanjana remained stable throughout her hospital stay and responded positively to the treatment provided.
She was closely monitored by doctors and nursing staff to ensure her pain was managed effectively and her wounds healed properly.
Following the surgery, Sanjana showed steady and visible improvement. Her pain levels reduced significantly, and signs of healing were evident in the treated areas.
Compared to her condition before treatment:
The medical team monitored her progress closely during the recovery phase to ensure there were no signs of infection or complications.
As Sanjana’s condition stabilized and her recovery progressed well, she was successfully discharged from the hospital on 21-01-2026.
Today, Sanjana is safe, stable, and recovering at home. She continues to heal under prescribed medication and basic wound care, with regular follow ups advised by the doctors.
At present, no immediate further surgical intervention is required.
Beyond physical healing, a noticeable improvement has been seen in Sanjana’s emotional state. Post treatment, she appears less distressed and more at ease. Her crying has reduced significantly, and she shows improved interaction with her mother.
For her family, this recovery has brought immense relief. Watching their child rest peacefully after weeks of pain has been a moment of quiet hope and gratitude.
Although the estimated cost of Sanjana’s treatment was ₹5,15,000 and the fundraising support was limited, her treatment was completed successfully without compromise.
This case stands as a reflection of Mitaan Foundation’s commitment that no child’s life is put on hold due to lack of funds.
Sanjana’s recovery is a reminder of why timely intervention, responsible decision making, and collective compassion matter.
Sanjana will continue to be monitored through routine follow ups as she heals. With proper care and support, she is expected to make a steady recovery.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported, shared, and stood by this case. Your trust enables us to act decisively when time matters the most.
Today, Sanjana Barle is recovering safely.
And that is a life protected, just in time.
Note - Any amount raised beyond the required treatment cost will be used to support other individuals who were less fortunate and could not receive the help they needed.
